A walk on a Lake Tahoe pier, especially at sunrise, inspires a reverence only the natural world can evoke.
The imagery of the mountains silhouetted against the water and the vibrant play of light and texture of the clouds above reminds us of nature’s unspoken magic. There's an elegance in the chaos, a quiet majesty that resonates deep within. It's impossible not to marvel at this messy Monet* on display.
You may question religion, spirituality, or even cosmic consciousness. The experience itself might not neatly fit into any of these categories. Intuitively, however, you know there's something going on here much bigger than you.
It's something that arouses a sense of bewilderment.
But why?
If it's not a religious, spiritual or cosmic experience, then what is it?
Perhaps it's the very mystery of the experience, that feeling of connection to something vast and incomprehensible, that makes it so powerful.
It doesn’t demand explanation or definition—it simply is. The sense of bewilderment feels like the purest form of wonder, unburdened by the need to label or understand.
In this way, your reflection from the pier hints at a deeper truth: that sometimes, the most profound moments are those where we are humbled by the beauty and vastness of the world.
Maybe, indeed, it is magic—but the kind of magic that feels perfectly natural, like it’s always been here, waiting for us to notice.
But nothing too magical to be true.
