Teri Smith’s watercolors were featured in Moonshine Ink in November 2023, they caught my eye, and I wanted to see more. This led to a phone call, a friendship, and now a creative collaboration.
Who is Teri Smith?
Teri’s art education began many years ago in Laguna Beach, CA, known for its heavy influence on local artists. Watercolors, with their free-flowing spontaneity, appealed most to Teri and this medium became her passion throughout her formal education in art, which included the Art Institute of Southern California, Laguna Beach; Art History, University of Oregon; and Art Appreciation, Orange Coast College. Her work has been on display at shows and in galleries up and down the west coast.
Featured here are seven of Teri's watercolor paintings and a little bit more about our connection, thanks to Moonshine Ink.
Teri and her husband Lee lived for over 59 years in downtown Truckee, CA. They recently moved to their new home in Reno, NV. But, as Teri told me, "We left our hearts in the mountains."
"Michael saw my paintings and reached out to me," said Teri. "He asked if he could put some of them on his website. It's an honor to have an opportunity to be part of Blue Wolf Gallery.
"Michael's photographs of the beautiful world that surrounds us are awe inspiring and stir one's emotions. That is what I aspire to achieve in my paintings.”
[I'm inspired by Teri's paintings. She knows how to capture and promote the natural environment with her eye and brush. It's a pleasure to finally share some of her lovely work here. As soon as I figure out how to do it, I'll add a tab at the top of this site to create a page for Teri.]
"There have been periods of time when life has kept me away from my easel," says Teri, "but I'll be forever grateful to Michael and Moonshine Ink for their encouragement and my return to 'my happy place' - which is painting!"
