Depending on your point of view, the world around you can seem like a dream or a nightmare worthy of a painter and poet like William Blake.
This is a visual story about a place where these two worlds collide. Your passport to get there? A little imagination and pinch of curiosity.
Thanks for trusting me to show you around. Let's go...
The forest appears perfectly normal at first, but upon a closer look it transforms into something Godzilla-like, swallowing the moon.
The trees of this forest are equally lovely and haunting in their own peculiar way.
Silent giants rising into the cool autumn sky, their branches stretching out like arms of a thousand witches.
You're suddenly struck with a feeling of terror mixed with ecstasy.
And as you look you become more absorbed. How can it be?
The bark itself is expressive, life-like, familiar.
"Is it watching me?” You wonder with fascination.
"Some see nature all ridicule and deformity... and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself. As a man is, so he sees."
~ William Blake, from his communications with the Reverend John Trusler, 1799
During this time of year a little imagination and curiosity goes a long way. Especially in this forest.
Depending on your perspective you can engage with this forest with fear or awe. But by being afraid you scare away inspiration.
Here's what I suggest: hike through this forest. Absorb the enchantment. Enjoy the moment. And get inspired.
"Everything is begging to be discovered, not accidentally, but intuitively." ~ Henry Miller
One man's paradise is another man's purgatory. Either way, once you've made that choice the experience is never forgotten. "As man is, so he sees."
Thanks for joining me on this visual journey during the season of the witch. If nothing else, I hope it reveals for you a new way of looking at things.
