48th Annual Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance, 2022
Competition of Elegance, better known as Concours d’Elegance, is a Lake Tahoe annual phenomenon which began drawing crowds in 1972. It has since evolved into one of the most spectacular, high-end wooden boat shows in the world.
For half a century, this recurring celebration of Lake Tahoe's finest, most meticulously cared for mahogany vessels, continues to remind those in attendance of a time when these classic wooden boats dominated the Lake in the '20s and '30s.
What is it about the romance of wooden boats that draws us to them?
It's impossible not to be blown away by these floating masterpieces. As you walk along the docks gazing at the varnished cap rails, you suddenly realize your reflection penetrates deep into the wood. The seductive classic tan and dark ruby colors of the mahogany hulls razzle and dazzle in Lake Tahoe's shimmering sunlight.
And could there be a better backdrop for such an event than one at Obexer's Boat Company? Nestled on Lake Tahoe's West Shore, the water at Obexer's is so clear the gold-leaf names of the boats float under the glamorous sterns, literally extending their beauty that much more. It's a true sight to behold.
